Below is a list of clothing made in the USA found in retail stores. I have been searching for the last six years for clothing and accessories made in the USA. I have tried to remember the names the best that I could and I do know that I didn’t write them all down. I know this list is woefully incomplete but I plan to continue to update this list often. The list has gotten exponentially larger than when I first started this project in 2011.
For more complete tips on finding American made clothing see my blog entry: Clothing Made in USA – Best Tips to Buying.
For those seeking clothing made in the USA, certain types of clothing are the easiest to find, they would be: T-shirts especially for young adults; Sports jackets; Hawaiian shirts and socks. Best bets for stores that carry American made clothing are some of the higher end department stores like Nordstrom’s or their discount stores like Nordstrom’s Rack. Other stores: Red Wing Shoes, Michael Stars, Off Fifth Avenue, Marine Layer (San Francisco, CA), Carried Away Boutique (Pacific Grove, CA), True Religion, 7 For All Mankind, Khaki’s Clothing of Carmel, and Unionmade (San Francisco) are other best bets. I have had some success going to retail stores that do carry inexpensive or medium level tops for ladies such as: Basic, Charlotte Russe, and Dermasque.
USA Made Clothing Through the Internet
For finding clothes made in the USA only via the internet, there are a great number of companies that sell only through the Internet. Many of these companies can become popular and eventually will show up in brick ad mortar stores, check out my link : Listing of Brands of Clothing Made in the USA via Internet. I am not the only “Made in USA” website, in fact, there are over 100 of them, I have organized them by alphabetical order and have said a sentence about each one on my link: Best Made in USA Websites. Once again, the list of American Clothing Manufacturers (brands) – Retail is far from complete, I will update them periodically. Sometimes brands suddenly appear and then disappear. (Last update: January 11,2018)

Please note, just because a name is listed does not necessarily mean it was made in America. Most of the above manufacturers, have factories outside of the US as well. One small note: there were a couple of Canadian entries in the above.
“He who goes against fashion is himself its slave.” -Logan Pearsall Smith
A few more you could list:
Suits: Hickey Freeman
Belts: Allen Edmonds, Filson
Socks: Smart Wool
Thanks alot for the great info, I will use it the next time I need to purchase any of the items you listed.
All the best, John Brriggs
Thanks John,
I am always happy to find more American clothing manufacturers. I will gladly add to this to my very anemic list.
Thanks again, Jack A.
You could also add Soul Flower (www.soulflower.com)
I have added your company to the list.
Missed All American Clothing Co. Small, high quality, gusseted, 100% USA Made. 10 years.
Check: www. Made in USA Certified
It is always great to get feedback especially from the co-founder of All American Clothing Company. I do know of your great company, however, I have not yet seen them in a retail store, which is the title of this piece. I would be happy to add your name to the list of manufacturers found in retail stores if you might point me the way. Just today, I found Blue Canoe, another American clothing manufacturer, in a retail store (Eco-Goods in Santa Cruz, CA), so I can happily add their name to the list. I am keeping track of American Clothing manufacturers that sell only via the Internet (I haven’t decided whether to publish this list, yet). Thanks so much, Mr. Nickol, I hope to hear from you soon. -Jack A.
Hey Clothingmadeinusablog,
This might be off topic, however, I’m intrigued in buying products (daily stuff like clothing, pots, pans, college supplies) that were crafted on American soil by American suppliers. My reasoning guiding this is that I will know that these personnel weren’t addressed unfairly and these agencies enforced the regular labor regulations and have labor unions. Following seeing what Wal Mart’s finished, I imagine I’ll keep away from them for as very long as I maybe can.
Do you know any companies or establishments that make these solutions? Could you potentially listing 1 or two, or provide a link that lists these? Thank you!
Great Job!
Dear Plus Lady,
Thank you for the question. There are a few great blogs that help you to identify ‘daily stuff’ made in the usa. My favorite is simplyamericandotnet; madeinusachallenge.com is good; madeinusablog.wordpress.com is a good blog but recently his activity has decreased. For the latest manufacturing news – Alliance for American Manufacturing is a great source. I hope this has been helpful. Jack A.
I was just seeking this info for some time. After 6 hours of continuous Googleing, at last I got it in your website. I wonder what is the lack of Google strategy that don’t rank this kind of informative websites in top of the list. Usually the top web sites are full of garbage.
Dear Enriqueta Moreira,
That is the problem with Google and other search engines is that the most appropriate sites do not come up first, certainly if I paid Google then the site would be higher on the list. -Jack A.
Great post, I just bookmarked it on Digg.
I’m still learning from you, while I’m improving myself. I certainly love reading all that is written on your website.Keep the posts coming. I enjoyed it!
I’ve gone ahead and bookmarked https://clothingmadeinusablog.wordpress.com/2011/09/27/american-clothing-manufacturers-retail at Digg.com so my friends can see it too. I simply used Listing of American clothing manufacturers – Retail clothingmadeinusablog as the entry title in my Digg.com bookmark, as I figured if it is good enough for you to title your blog post that, then you probably would like to see it bookmarked the same way.

I would like to know if you could name any companies in the US, who make scrubs, in the US. Scrub tops,

Or, would be willing to look into doing it……..
Dear Lynn,
I have not specifically looked for scrubs or lab coats at brick and mortar stores, but I do know they are out there through the internet. You can also check my blog entry: Listing of brands of clothing made in the USA via internet.

Hi everyone, this is a great blog and I need help here. I am currently looking for a good manufacture that can help us produce upcoming clothing line for women dresses ad casual wears. Please contact me wearzilia@gmail.com on any suggestion for a manufacture you know of. Thanks again and can’t wait to hear from one of you.
Dear Joyce,
The best place if you want to make your clothing made in the USA as http://makersrow.com/. Good Luck. Jack A

You can get more information about us at http://www.highperformanceuniforms.com or gilsewing.com

Wonderful, what a weblog it is! This weblog gives valuable facts to us,
keep it up.
Do you know of any companies that have jeans for women that are less than 50 bucks a pair? I was looking through the companies and apparently 200+ a pair is normal and I don’t make anywhere near enough to afford them. Either way, I like the list! I’m just curious how do these companies stay open with those prices?
Dear Annie, I really love to shop at the Nordstrom’s Rack and sometimes those $170 jeans can be bought for $60 or $70. Or you can try the online places like from cheapest to highest: Texas Jeans $20 – $30; Round House $30 – $35; Made in USA Jeans @usa2bc.com $45; Pointer brand $47; All American Clothing $49; Diamond Gusset $56 – $127; Schaefer $60; Red Ant Pants $129; Todd Shelton $160; Bullet Blues $170. Happy hunting. -Jack A
This is really interesting, You’re a very skilled blogger. I’ve
joined your feed and look forward to seeking
more of your fantastic post. Also, I’ve shared your site in my social networks!
I have a “List of US made Products” website that you might find useful:
http://usproducts.yolasite.com
I have over 2700 companies listed and it is growing.
I recommend anybody reading this that this isone of the most comprehensive lists i have seen on US made things including clothing. -Jack A
You left of Red Ants Pants for ladies pants. Unless you don’t cover “workwear.” They are similar to carharts but better quality. Thanks.
Dear Juliet,
I had Red Ant Pants in another category – this list – is actually misnamed – it should be brands found in brick and mortar stores. I have Red Ant Pants list under another category: Listing of American clothing brands – Internet. I have added a couple of categories that Red Ant Pants also makes T shirts, hoodies, belts and hats. Thanks for letting me know. -Jack A
Good Evening, thanks for your efforts creating this list…By chance having a list of manufactures?..Thank you
That is a great question. I do not have a list per se. I wish I did. Here are some good sites: 1) http://makersrow.com/ which is like the yellow pages of manufacturers in the USA; 2) fibre2fashion.com – list clothing manufacturers, but you would have to type in USA to find US manufacturers; and if you are in San Francisco or New York, they have websites like sfmade.org for (San Francisco) that may be helpful. I hope this is helpful. -Jack A
Thankx for sharing
high great list but did you leave out one of my favourites eddie bauer in chicago
I have written about Eddie Bauer in 2011. At that time, they were going to collaborate with English designer Nigel Cabourn to manufacture outerwear made in Northern America. Well, they have been doing this for three years, however it is made in Canada. Other than that, Eddie Bauer has not made clothing in the USA for many years, and that is why they are not included. -Jack A
Thanks for putting this together! I love seeing the Made in the USA initiative progress!
Have you ever heard of the Save the Garment Movement in NYC. One of my friends is on the board and I really love what they are doing for this Cause.
Lastly, I represent an apparel production house in LA through my company http://www.IndieSource.com and we help designers and brands with
Design and Development
Apparel Manufacturing
Fashion Sales and Marketing
Just another resource for Americans to use!
I have seen the Save the Garment District movement and several articles on Nanette Lapore. I believe I included one of her stories last year. If you can help American fashion businesses find places to manufacture in the U.S. that would be fantastic. -Jack A
I certainly can Jack, I am really happy to be enabled to do so. We help all types of brands, from start-ups to Urban Outfitters. Its impressive to see the amount of money being spent on creating awareness and marketing “Made in the USA.”
In February at Magic Market Week in Las Vegas, they re-formatted the whole sourcing show to include a huge USA section and spent hundreds of thousands in marketing and getting vendors.
So many clients come to me complaining about the poor communication, poor quality, and risk involved with manufacturing in foreign nations, like China. There is even a secondary market formed to handle the communication, which only increases the cost and people involved.
Now more than ever should brands consider getting all of their conception and manufacturing done in America!
Now your talking my language.
That is fantastic. Maybe I can feature your company in an upcoming blog entry. Oh, by the way, I have told a Kickstarter company that you may be helpful for finding him a suitable American manufacturing plant for his clothing line.
Sincerely,
Jack A.
Jack,
Thanks for the referral. It is a pleasure to discuss and develop people’s passions in the fashion and apparel industry.
We would be delighted to conduct a blog feature with you. Whether that is a Q & A or simply an introduction to what we can do in the USA. I could provide you with great content on why everyone should consider the American Made option.
My Email is Jesse@IndieSource.com Please reach out to me when you can.
I sure will. I will contact you via e-mail early next week. -Jack A
Does anyone have sources for USA or North American made outerwear, winter clothing, jackets, windbreakers parka’s etc?
Probably the best place for Made in USA outerwear that is reasonably priced is shopunionusa.com. They have windbreakers, pullovers, vests. Triple Aught Design is also very nice for outerwear. Windbreakers: Dehen and Battenwear found at Hickorees.com. Fleece pullovers and hoodies: Aether and POP outerwear. For Parkas: Orvis makes a very expensive retro parka.Empire Canvas wear makes a parka. Aether has some Canadian made heavy coats: Andorak, Nomad, The Breaker and Stormy. Don’t forget Filson and occasionally Pendleton. I hope that is helpful. Happy Hunting. -Jack A
Try Gil Sewing Corp. in chicago http://www.gilsewing.com
hi i’m searching for a brand name ; red
Sak’s Fifth Avenue carries a brand called red. I am not sure if that is the one you are looking for. -Jack A
I am looking for a t-shirt manufacturing company located it Florida or any of the surrounding states. My 6 year old is looking to start a clothing line in which she uses the proceeds to purchase school clothing for homeless children. If manufacturers are interested please email me at proberts1216@gmail.com
Paige is using cheap fabrics and selling the jeans as “premium jeans”. Also the American companies (Laundries) that Paige is using to finishing the jeans are disappearing because of the ridiculous prices that Paige pay for their washes.
Hi,
I enjoyed your website, I was looking for manufacturers and I found you… This is great! But do you know with company I can workout because I want to open a store outsite of United Stated and I am looking for some kind like forever 21, rue21, charlotte russe, etc. Please reply me .
Thank you for your time.
GBU.
Cristela
Dear Cristela,
If you are interested in manufacturing within the United States, your easiest route is through http://makersrow.com/.Maker's Row can set you up with a manufacturer in your area of the country. As far as distributing to other countries, that is a more involved answer. First off, do actually have a line to sell? Then how much do you make? Where do you want to distribute? As they say, do you have a business plan that addresses all of these questions? As far as taking a known chain and taking that chain into another country, I think that would be very improbable as these large chains have probably been working on that on their own and probably don’t need any prodding to do this. I hope I answered your question. Thanks for reading. -Jack A.
jack,
This is Zack Anderson if you can mention the numbers of these companies so i can contact them. i will be waiting for that. 🙂

The retail brands are harder to obtain, plus the number of brands is just so vast. What might be better is checking out Listing of American clothing brands via the internet. In that post every company has a website. That would be a better way to contact the companies. I hope that was helpful. Jack A
I Need contact info for Curvesque , can someone help in this?
Sure, my e-mail is office1234a@sbcglobal.net. Jack A
Dear Sumit, That is one of the downfalls of listing brand names found in retail stores. Sometimes apparel manufacturers will make clothing under several names, and unless you know the store it was purchased and when it was purchased and then you have talk to the manager/owner to find where they purchased it wholesale, it can be quite an ordeal – sometimes the brands are hard to track down – especially the ones made in small batches. -Jack A
Hi! Jack, Really appreciate your reply. Can you help me with the address for Come N see it seems to be a popular brand but unable to find there address or Tel # or someone who deals in there stock. Regards
Here is the website:https://www.lashowroom.com/comensee for Come N See.
I have looked high and low, Google, Yahoo, etc for the location or web site of HARBOR BAY but can not find the parent company which I can contact to see if a certain underway is still made by them which is the best there is for Knit Boxers in TALL men. Any know how to contact Harbor Bay?
The only thing that Harbor Bay “made in the USA” are socks. Everything else is “Imported”. There are a few companies that do make boxers made in the USA: Flint and Tinder, Ameican Giant, Eco Goods and American Apparel. But Harbor Bay is not one of them. Jack A
Thanks but unfortunately they too like all other clothing manufacturer do not make underwear for TALL men, just LARGE and that is defined as up to 6’3″. Guess one has to be a millionaire NBA player if over 6’3″ and have underwear custom made, or not wear any. As the population is getting taller and taller, clothing manufacturing will become more obsolete than they already are. When you are over 6’3″ and wear underwear for men 5’5″-5’8″, your voice becomes higher and squeaky, it hurts to set down or walk. But from the pictures, the models do not look like the average man in American either. Just imagine the problem Shaquille O’Neal had growing up without underwear.
Hi. My company makes technical outerwear in Colorado. Our jackets can be seen on ABC News worldwide. There are several professional organizations that wear our products in the Rocky Mountains. We are the official uniform of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center!! You can see our products at http://WWW.FREERIDESYSTEMS.COM Thanks for looking.
My personal fave is soul flower (www.soul-flower.com) – could you add them to the list?
Hello clothingmadeinusablog, thank you for such a list. However, I’m unable to find some of the brands on internet and can’t also find their founder or owner. I’d like to talk to them to propose my fashion styles and to see if they can add them in their listings. Can you help me with anything which can help me in finding the founders or owners of these brands?
Dear Mohammed,
In the brands listing, sometimes it is difficult to find brand names who makes the clothing, because brand names come and go. Whereas the listing of clothing via the Internet – has at least the listing of their websites, where you can find where they make their clothing.Jack A
Freecoast Co. is another great brand that offers casual summer clothing for both girls and guys. All their products are sweatshop free and made in the USA (cut and sewn in California).
You can check out their web page at http://www.freecoastco.com.
I have added Freecoast Co to the list. Great website. Jack A
Old Bull Lee is American made – shorts & swimwear (California) & shirts (North Carolina)
https://www.oldbullshorts.com

Hi! Can I know how I could contact these apparel manufacturers? Need to understand their perspective on outsourcing fashion designing. Thank you!
Maybe you can talk with Maker’s Row. They try to match up designers and American textile manufacturers. They have their own website and blog. makersrow.com. Thank. Jack A
It is great that you make the dresses in Brooklyn, New York. I have found that you also are available in certain shops all across the U.S. as well. You can find Karina dresses by their website:http://karinadresses.com/.-Jack A
