It’s Time to End the Secrecy Surrounding TPP

It’s Time to End the Secrecy Surrounding TPP | James P. Hoffa. The Trans-Pacific Partnership Pact, supposedly a “bipartisan” deal which has been drawn up in total secret “to help out” several Asian countries but more likely to help outsource more American jobs is running out of time. As more secret details of the partnership pact leak out, more objections have been voiced, but then, that is why the TPP is a secret on fast track to becoming a law in the first place. Now, multiple groups are calling for transparency – to make the details of the pact public. The latest meeting in Singapore did not come to an agreement.

The TPP is a very bad deal for the United States. See my objections to the TPP in my 10/4/13 blog entry. Just a brief list of criticisms: Loss of millions of American jobs, manufacturing and service; exemption of environmental, pollution and food safety standards (your food coming from China will not be inspected nor will you know it came from China or another country); Loss of “Buy Local” policies; and expansion to across the Pacific Ocean of Big Corporation (Big Pharma and Monsanto) “patents” (unable to even mention genetically modified foods); and it frees the big banks from oversight. Some have called the TPP, NAFTA on steroids. Please end the secrecy, let there be debate.
