Yay! Team USA will wear Made in the USA to the Sochi Olympic Games | Alliance for American Manufacturing. Remember the hubbub about Ralph Lauren not making the Olympic Uniforms in the United States for the London Olympics? (if not, you can follow my link for the story in July, 2012). Well, after apologizing, Ralph Lauren vowed to make the next Olympic uniforms in the United States, and true to his word, Ralph Lauren has been having clothing workers in New York and Pennsylvania making the new 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Clothing in the United States. The Olympic ensemble includes a navy peacoat with a red stripe, a classic ski sweater with a reindeer motif and a hand-sewn American flag, and a tasseled chunky-knit hat.
To me what is even more surprising is that The North Face (which doesn’t make anything in the United States) has committed to producing the Olympic athlete’s gear in America.
The Washington Post article (written by Sandra Critchell of the Associated Press) goes into much more detail and does a much better job on this issue, plus it has all the pictures of the new Olympic gear, including the American made boots.
