‘Made in the U.S.A.’ Has a New Meaning – NYTimes.com. Americana Chic has gone mainstream, so says The New York Times, first published on September 14, 2012. Certainly buying American is chic, but this link tells you why.
For yourself, it is highly unlikely that any others in your neighborhood are wearing Made in the USA, especially since only 2% of clothing is Made in the USA. Not only is it chic, it is good for the United States economy.
Statistics if we bought more made in the USA products (numbers from ABC News)
If we spent $1 per day on Made in USA products, it would create 1 million new U.S. jobs.
If we spent $0.18 per day or $64 per year, it would create 200,000 new U.S. jobs.
If we spent only $3.33 per year, it would create 10,000 new U.S. jobs.
We can make a difference with our pocketbooks.
