My onshore obsession with ‘Made in the USA’ – Jennifer Granholm

Opinion: My onshore obsession with ‘Made in the USA’ – Jennifer Granholm – POLITICO.com. This is a link to a two page article written by Jennifer Granholm for Politico. It also contains a 4 minute 11 second video that was shown on Current TV.

Ms. Granholm is excited any time she finds a product labeled: “Made in the USA”. She points out that we have been offshoring  most of our manufacturing jobs (and, therefore, goods) and offers some solutions to bring American Manufacturing jobs back home. This is called insourcing. American manufacturing and exports have been the backbone of the American economy until 1980 when we switched over to a consumer spending approach to measuring the economy  (one that is fatally flawed). We need to get back to the basics: manufacture in the U.S.; buy things made in the U.S.; and export our manufactured goods to other countries. We’ve have lost our way. We only manufacture 5% of what we need. We have had enough of “creative” accounting.

Jennifer Granholm is the former Governor of Michigan and hosts a show on Current TV called “The War Room.
